SUMMARY:Grower's Market
DESCRIPTION:For our growers and artisans\, farming and crafting are more than just professions—they’re a way of life. For our customers\, it’s a sensory celebration as they wander through the market. The air is filled with the fragrant notes of spicy petunias\, roses\, rosemary\, thyme\, and lavender. You’ll find the sweetness of fresh peaches\, the juiciness of ripe tomatoes\, the rich aroma of brewing coffee\, and the tempting sizzle of donuts frying. Handcrafted wind chimes\, fragrant soaps\, fresh eggs\, specialty breads\, decadent cakes\, pies\, honey\, and organic beef add to the market’s charm. We also feature a variety of artisans\, with works in silver\, oils\, stained glass\, tapestries\, yarn\, and wood.\nOur vendors travel from all corners of Southern Oregon\, including Medford\, Butte Falls\, Winston\, Canyonville\, Gold Hill\, Roseburg\, Ashland\, the Illinois Valley\, and even the Oregon Coast\, bringing their goods to the market.\nSince its founding in 1980\, the Grants Pass Growers Market has been a Saturday morning tradition\, offering a diverse array of locally grown fruits\, vegetables\, plants\, baked goods\, specialty foods\, and gourmet herbs and seasonings. As the oldest and largest outdoor farmers market in Southern Oregon\, it has played a pivotal role in connecting farmers directly with their customers\, supporting the community\, and fostering local agricultural success.

SUMMARY:The Intersection of Person\, Culture\, and Disability
DESCRIPTION:This interactive training invites participants to examine how culture\, disability\, and personal identity shape the experiences of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Grounded in the Principles of Disability Justice from Sins Invalid\, we’ll explore how unconscious bias\, cultural norms\, and systemic inequities impact access\, autonomy\, and dignity.\nThrough plain language definitions\, visual storytelling\, and collaborative activities\, participants will deepen their understanding of intersectionality and how it relates to disability. Together\, we’ll challenge assumptions\, honor lived experience and reimagine support systems that celebrate complexity and foster belonging.\nThis training is designed for professionals\, advocates\, and anyone committed to equity in disability services. No prior knowledge required—just curiosity\, compassion\, and a willingness to reflect. \nBy the end of this training\, participants will be able to:\n• Define key concepts including intersectionality\, cultural humility\, person-centered planning\, and disability justice using plain language\n• Recognize how cultural identity and systemic bias influence the experiences of people with IDD\n• Apply trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to support that honor autonomy\, dignity of risk\, and cultural context\n• Reflect on their own biases and assumptions\, and explore strategies for fostering inclusive\, culturally responsive environments\n• Collaborate with others to co-create practices that center lived experience and challenge ableist norms
